CSV UPLOAD

CSV Uploads are of great use to add orders, customers' contacts, or products to the app as they perform an event or visit your website. It helps you save lots of information about the customer in an excel file. The CSV file helps you tag the user attributes while sending the campaigns. In this article, you will get to know the process of importing events or users via a CSV upload in NotifyVisitors.

IMPORT USERS OR EVENTS IN NOTIFYVISITORS

NotifyVisitors enable you to use the CSV upload feature through which you can create new user profiles by simply uploading the CSV file along with a list of user profiles. You can use the said feature to update information for the already existing user profiles. Similarly, you can upload the events performed by the users via a CSV file which you can read in the latter part of the article.

Following the thread, let’s navigate to the steps of a CSV upload in the NotifyVisitors dashboard.

UPLOAD USERS VIA CSV

  1. Go to NotifyVisitors> Analytics> CSV upload >Upload users. Here you can view the following variables for uploading a file :
  * **File Name**: It refers to the name of the uploaded file.

  * **Status**: View the status of the file. View if it is uploaded successfully or is there any error.

   * **Error**: See if you have made any mistakes while uploading the file.

  * **Invalid list**: View the downloaded file over here.

   * **Updated on**: See the date you uploaded the file.
  1. Click on the “Upload user data” to upload the CSV file.
  1. Once you upload the CSV file, define its variables:
  • Upload attributes: These are the attributes that you created in the excel and uploaded as a CSV file.

  • Choose the data type: Define the data type for the uploaded attributes whether they belong to the category of string boolean or integer values.

For e.g. Any characters, numbers, and values would fall under the string data type category, Boolean data type category will reflect whether the user is a new member or already been a user of your services. The integer values will depict the user ID or subscription id.

  • Attributes: The attributes are different from the uploaded attribute values as they are already configured in the NV system. You can create a custom attribute as well from here. You can scroll down from the drop-down menu and create a custom attribute and save it.

Data will be saved in these attributes and later on, you can use them while targeting customers through different campaigns.

  • Status: Once you define the required variables. The status will be shown as OK.

📘

Note:

We only take data for those attributes where status is shown Ok if the status is depicted as Warning then, the uploaded attributes definitely have some information missing.

  • File Name: Next, give the upload file a name.

The status will be changed to successful once the upload processing is completed.

👍

Important

  • You can upload multiple CSV files simultaneously while other files are Under processing.
  • The users profile will be added if its a new user and the same will be updated if its an existing user

WHAT ARE THE PREREQUISITES FOR A CSV FILE :
